Bryce Owen is a freelance composer, arranger, and engraver based in San Antonio, Texas. He is a Virginia native raised in the mountainous south-western region of the state where, when he wasn’t playing or writing music, he enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors. Consequently, his creativity is often bolstered by a long hike or kayaking excursion.
Bryce draws influence from a variety of genres, styles, historical periods, and performance mediums, crafting select elements of each into both his commissioned works and self-propelled projects. His compositions blend peaceful introspection with colorful funk, evoking contemplation and jollity in equal measure.
Bryce’s arrangements are meticulously designed to showcase the strengths of the performing ensemble while simultaneously staying true to the original material and enhancing its appeal. He is an equal opportunity orchestrator who is passionate about inclusive participation, focusing particularly on the often underutilized bass voices and percussive elements of an ensemble.
